Our Story

Mountain Rescue NC was founded in response to the unprecedented devastation caused by Hurricane Helene. The storm left behind a trail of destruction, impacting countless families, homes, and businesses. In the midst of this chaos, we saw a unique opportunity to bring people together—to channel the strength, compassion, and resilience of our region into a force for good. What began as a grassroots effort to help those in immediate need has grown into a full-scale operation dedicated to long-term relief and recovery.

What began as a disaster relief organization has grown into a full-scale community support initiative. At Mountain Rescue NC, we’re not just rebuilding homes — we’re rebuilding hope, dignity, and opportunity for every individual who walks through our doors.

Thanks to your continued support and our dedicated team of volunteers and partners, we’re expanding our services to meet the evolving needs of our region’s most vulnerable populations — including children, mothers, foster families, veterans, disabled adults, seniors, and more.

Who We Serve — With Heart, Purpose, and Urgency

We’re proud to now provide support, resources, and outreach for:

Mothers and Children

We help struggling families receive essentials like formula, diapers, baby food, car seats, strollers, and clothing, as well as access to wraparound services like transportation and case management.

Foster Children & Caregivers

We provide seasonal clothing, hygiene kits, bedding, books, school supplies, comfort items, and personalized care packages for children in foster care, and support for foster parents navigating transitional care.

Low-Income Seniors

We deliver monthly food boxes, household supplies, warm clothing, and companionship to aging neighbors who often face isolation, fixed incomes, or limited mobility.

Veterans & Disabled Adults

We assist with wheelchairs, medical supplies, home modifications, employment resources, and navigation tools for our heroes who’ve served and sacrificed.

Students & Schools

Through collaborations with school counselors, social workers, and homeless liaisons, we ensure students in need receive clothing, shoes, school supplies, hygiene kits, and birthday celebrations.

Shelters, Churches & Community Partners

We work hand-in-hand with shelters, churches, and nonprofits to ensure no child or adult in need is left behind.

When needs are unmet, we step in. When storms hit — physically or emotionally — we rise together.

What We Do
